Molly Skomer, APRN Receives 2026 Caring Kind Award

Syracuse Area Health is proud to recognize Molly Skomer, APRN, Family Medicine Provider, as a recipient of the Nebraska Hospital Association’s 2026 Caring Kind Award.

For more than 40 years, Nebraska hospitals have celebrated employees who exemplify compassion and service through The Caring Kind Award. At Syracuse Area Health, employees submit nominations and select the recipient through a voting process. The award honors employees who go above and beyond in their compassion for patients, cooperation with colleagues, and dedication to excellence in their work.

Skomer’s nomination highlights the compassion, kindness, and personal attention she brings to her work. She greets people with a smile, makes time for meaningful conversations, and helps patients feel comfortable, valued, and cared for. Her warmth and attentiveness offer comfort and reassurance, especially during difficult moments.

“Every day, these team members make a meaningful difference through their kindness, positive attitude, willingness to help others, and commitment to excellence,” said Lisa Voorhees, CEO of Syracuse Area Health, in her message recognizing this year’s Caring Kind nominees.

Skomer extends that same care to her colleagues. Her nomination describes how she regularly checked in on a colleague experiencing a family loss and went out of her way to help the family feel welcomed and supported.

Her commitment also reaches beyond individual interactions. Skomer contributes thoughtful ideas to improve processes, patient care, and clinic operations. As a mentor to students, she helps future healthcare professionals build confidence and gain meaningful learning experiences.

“Molly is so deserving of the Caring Kind Award, and we are blessed to work with her every day,” said Abby Weddingfeld, LPN, Syracuse Family Medicine Clinic Supervisor. “We appreciate everything she does for our team and the patients we serve at the clinic.”

Through her outstanding care for patients, support for colleagues, and investment in future healthcare professionals, Skomer exemplifies Syracuse Area Health’s mission of “Compassionate Care, Healthy Communities.”
