Syracuse Area Health Recognized for Quality Excellence by Nebraska Department of Health and The Chartis Center for Rural Health

Syracuse Area Health today announced it has been recognized as a 2022 Rural Provider Excellence in Quality Award winner by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Presented at this month’s Nebraska Critical Access Hospitals and Rural Health Clinics Conference on Quality, the Rural Provider Excellence in Quality Award honors Top 10 overall performance in quality among the state’s Critical Access Hospitals.

“We’re so proud to receive this recognition from the state’s department of health and The Chartis Center,” said Mike Harvey, Syracuse Area Health President and CEO. “The providers and staff at Syracuse Area Health are continuously striving to provide our patients with top-notch care, from state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to compassionate care from the moment they step through our doors. It’s rewarding for all of us to know that those efforts don’t go unnoticed.”

The Rural Provider Excellence in Quality Award utilizes the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX™ framework to analyze Medicare Beneficiary Quality Improvement Project (MBQIP) measures for each of the 63 Critical Access Hospitals in Nebraska. The analysis percentile ranks performance for each facility across 21 equally weighted, core MBQIP metrics and those facilities with the 10 highest scores are recognized with the Rural Provider Excellence in Quality Award.

“Across Nebraska, our Critical Access Hospitals are passionate about their mission and committed to delivering a care experience rooted in outstanding quality,” said Nancy Jo Hansen, Flex and SHIP Program Manager, Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. “Earning a Rural Provider Excellence in Quality Award is a tremendous achievement and I know others will be inspired to push for even higher performance.”

“To see a mix of familiar names as well as 7 first-time recipients among this year’s award winners speaks to the priority given to quality excellence by Nebraska’s Critical Access Hospital leadership and staff,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, The Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We’re delighted to partner with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services on this recognition program and applaud the efforts of this year’s award winners.”
