FUNDING CONNECTS RURAL PATIENTS TO EMERGENCY SPECIALISTS
Patients of Syracuse Area Health will benefit from the latest technological advances that expand patient access to quality emergency care, made possible through a grant from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust.
Helmsley’s Rural Healthcare Program has awarded Syracuse Area Health $164,388 for eEmergency, a program that gives our healthcare professionals immediate access to specialty care 24 hours a day. The grant will be used to purchase eEmergency equipment that connects local providers with emergency specialists. eEmergency ensures that board-certified emergency physicians and emergency trained nurses are available to assist local providers in treating trauma, heart attack, stroke and other critical conditions.
“We are very grateful to be the recipient of this Helmsley grant, and we’re excited to provide this new technology and service to our community,” said Michael Harvey, CEO of Syracuse Area Health. “The eEmergency system, with service through Avera, will be a tremendous asset to our providers in caring for patients who present to our emergency room. It provides even one more resource for our providers to ensure that we continue to provide top notch care in our emergency department. We will be working diligently in the coming months to get the equipment installed and this service up and running.”
