National Lymphedema Network Expert Clinician
Occupational and Lymphedema Therapist, Crystal Bennett was recently awarded the National Lymphedema Network Expert Clinician Designation. This designation requires a minimum of 5 years practice as a Lymphedema Therapist and additional training in 10 lymphedema advanced practice areas. Crystal attended the National Lymphedema Network Annual Conference, completed written and practical testing, and demonstrated competence in all 10 areas.
Lymphedema and other swelling disorders occur when there is a buildup of fluid in the body and the lymphatic system is unable to adequately remove lymph fluid. This can happen in any part of the body but is most common in the legs or arms. Lymphedema therapy focuses on managing edema with the use of manual lymphatic drainage, compression, exercise, skin care and education.
