Monday, April 25th – 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Free checks to make sure your child is secured correctly in the vehicle.
Syracuse Area Health is partnering with Southeast Safety for Kids (SSK), the Southeast Safe Kids Coalition and Nebraska Safe Kids to provide a check up event for child passenger safety. The event will be held on Monday, April 25th starting at 3:30 p.m. and concluding at 6:00 p.m. on the west side of Syracuse Area Health, 2731 Healthcare Drive.
Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand to assist parents and other caregivers in correctly securing children from birth through age 13 in motor vehicles. There is no charge for the checks, and expecting parents are welcome to bring their infant seats to the event for assistance.
“We are looking forward to helping as many families as we can that day,” says Laura Osborne, SSK Coordinator. “It is our goal that children leave our event safer than they arrive. The misuse rates we have seen in 20-plus years of work in this field have been about 85% of all car seats we check. When our technicians work with a family, they are working to empower the parent and/or caregiver to install the child safety seat correctly themselves or to have their older children secured as safely as possible. This is important as we strive to keep the youngest citizens of southeast Nebraska as safe as possible while traveling in motor vehicles.”
Parents and caregivers can either drive up to the event or make an appointment by calling 402-269-7667.
