SYRACUSE AREA HEALTH ADDS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES WITH THE ADDITION OF NICOLE MAHER, LIMHP, LADC

SYRACUSE, Neb.— Syracuse Area Health announces the addition of Behavioral Health Services to its roster of patient-centric healthcare solutions. The new services include a focus on mental health and wellness, as well as the treatment of substance abuse disorders. Nicole Maher, Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) will lead the delivery of these services at the Syracuse Family Practice Clinic at 2731 Healthcare Drive. New patients are being accepted. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 402-269-2411.

Maher has a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University and specialized training in Chemical Dependency from Metropolitan Community College. For the past three-plus years, she has provided evidence-based therapy services in Nebraska for youth and adults who suffer from a multitude of mental health and substance abuse disorders. During that time, she consulted with educators, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), probation and parole officers, and Drug Court officials, while providing care to clients with behavioral health needs.

“I believe in working with clients in ways that allow them to recognize ineffective behaviors,” Maher says, “First, helping them understand the emotional fallout caused by life events, grief and loss, difficulties in personal relationships, trauma, substance abuse, and health-related conditions that impact mental well-being. Then, teaching new ways of coping and improving life from a holistic point of view. It gives me great pleasure to see clients learn new approaches and take positive steps to improve their lives.”

“Our expansion of Behavioral Health Services integrated within our family practice clinic is another way we are fulfilling our mission to provide compassionate care to Southeast Nebraska,” said Mike Harvey, CEO at Syracuse Area Health. “We look forward to our patients experiencing the positive, life-changing impact these services have to offer.”

Maher is a member of the American Counseling Association, the National Board of Certified Counselors, the Nebraska Counseling Association, and the National Association for Addiction Professionals.
